Your Local Superfund Sites

Superfund sites are the worst of the worst -- 1500 or so of the most polluted sites in the country that need extraordinary funds and oversight to clean-up and protect human health. For many, the program is synonymous with environmental disasters like Love Canal and Times Beach. However, many people are unaware that the Puget Sound has many of these sites, and there are three Superfund sites within half a mile of Highline. Come find out what is buried under the field next to Lowe’s, why there is that nice big open field with pipes running around it next to Kent-Des Moines Road, and why the soil in local yards may have as much as 4 times the lead and arsenic as normally would prompt cleanup as.
